Afterthought (Lithograph)

The poem “Afterthought” was written by Margery Wells Steer for her daughter, artist Alice Steer Wilson, and published by her granddaughter Janice Wilson Stridick. It was brought to light upon the poet’s death, shortly after the three women completed work on The View in Winter.

Janice commissioned artist Linda Townshend to render the poem in this beautiful calligraphy, and presented it to her mother for Mother’s Day 1992, in memory of Margery. Since then, this poem has found worldwide appeal and it is among Southbound Press’s best sellers. It been read at many memorial services, displayed in hospice centers, framed as a memorial and sent as a condolence card.
